Michael A. Powell has spent more than a decade representing clients within the entire State of Illinois as well as in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Mr. Powell’s trial experience covers many areas of the risk industry, including bodily injury, property damage, premise liability and products liability (with special emphasis in the areas of asbestos and other toxic torts), as well as real estate, contracts and corporate/business law litigation.
Mr. Powell graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1998 with a joint Juris Doctorate degree and Masters in Business Administration. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, The Missouri Bar, McLean County Bar Association, McLean County Arbitrators Program, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and Robert E. Underwood Inn of Court.
Mr. Powell is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Missouri and has tried numerous jury and bench cases to verdict. He has also successfully argued appeals in front of various Appellate Courts of Illinois. In addition to being admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the State of Missouri, he is also admitted in the Federal District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of Illinois.
Mr. Powell has represented insurance companies and their insureds in first and third party litigated disputes, Fortune 500 companies in premise and products liability cases, corporations and small businesses, real estate owners, and individuals in contract, commercial and business law disputes. He also represents individuals in the preparation of wills and trusts, Power of Attorney, deeds, contract review and real estate closings.
Mr. Powell practices out of the Bloomington office and his primary areas of practice include Tort defense, Premise Liability, Real Estate, Contracts, Commercial Law, and Insurance Law.
